get the ball rolling

I firmly believe in seasonal cocktails being a staple in holiday festivities. When it comes to major holidays, I would much rather prefer something to get me in the holiday spirit rather than a normal glass of wine (though I won't often turn down a glass of Chardonnay). This is my fall staple, and my current Halloween evening drink.

Apple Cider Pie

1.5oz Skyy Vodka
2oz Apple Cider
0.5oz Pinnacle Whipped
pinch of Cinnamon

I received that giant jug of Whipped from my sister for graduation, and the bottle of Skyy was surprisingly cheap. You can use the Burnett's whipped cream or any cheaper vodka, though I like the smoothness of these two. This particular cider is from Whole Foods, it has a lot of cinnamon already in it, so you only have to use a very small amount in the drink. For this cocktail, I prefer to use the Whipped as a float on top, so it almost tastes like the whipped cream on Mom's perfect apple pie. Though some find that taste overwhelming, so a quick stir will even out the taste.

And as a side note, I believe that Pinnacle Whipped is one of the most genius vodkas/liquors on the market, and that it can be used in an incredibly dynamic manner.

Happy Halloween!

Why I'm Here.

I'm a 22 year old graduate with a new life I'm still adjusting to. I am in the beginning of my adult life with nothing to do except hang out with a completely kickass boyfriend and an awesome dog. The job market is not working in my favor, though I'm not sure as of now that I want it to. I have spent the past 4 years of my life at a school in the middle of nowhere, working and managing a bar that was basically the only successful part of that dumb town. All I want is to have a career in the beverage industry that I can enjoy, that I can make a living out of and that I can not sit at a desk doing paperwork. Since I'm a girl, that isn't so easy. So for now, I'll work a low wage job at a sports bar in a rich town and make cocktails at home. I think they're pretty great cocktails, so I want to share them, and my other mildly interesting parts of my life on here.
